On my easel is a 5×7″ oil painting in progress. I’m experimenting with a new idea and would really love your feedback! If you were to purchase a small painting;
1) What is your preferred size?
Choose from -5×7″, 6×8″ or 8×10″
2) Framed or unframed?
Your thoughts are greatly appreciated! I’m posting via my phone for the 1st time, I apologize in advance if this doesn’t look right! Got to try it sometime!
Ok, that 1st try bombed…sorry!

I prefer the 8 by10 size because it is more substancial (and I often think if I am going to purchase a painting I don’t want tiny one, I want it to fill up more of my wall)… although with the bigger size comes bigger cost!!! 🙂 I think unframed is ok because people have different taste in style depending on their room decor. If you do sell unframed, I like it when the artist puts a wire hanger across the back so at least you (the customer) can hang it up immediately before taking it to be framed. Just a thought.

I think selling unframed is fine because people like different styles. But if you do sell unframed, it’s always nice if the artist puts a wire hanger across the back so the customer can hang up the painting in the meantime. Just a thought!
If it’s a gallery wrap I an add a wire to the back, so perhaps small gallery wraps may be the best solution. This way the buyer can have it custom framed in a I believe they’re called floating frames? Not sure!
Thank you for your feedback!

Out of the choices you gave I would say the 6 x 8. But really if you’re doing small, my favorite is the square…..either 5 x 5 or something similar. Squares are just more appealing to me. Hope that helps u out. Nancy Sent from my Verizon Wireless Smartphone
Hi Nancy,
I love square formats, I do have to say they can be a compositional challenge! Thank you for your feedback!
